Real Madrid and Spanish international midfielder Xabi Alonso has blasted Dutch international midfielder Nigel de Jong following a horror challenge that left Alonso with a broken rib.
The aerial challenge by Holland’s de Jong came in the World Cup final on Sunday, which was won by Alonso’s Spain.
The former Liverpool midfielder said that it was one of the worst tackles he has experienced.
Alonso told reporters that : “I am in pain now. It was one of the worst tackles I have ever had. They had to close us down, it was a tight game and there is respect from both sides,”.
“The challenge was really hard, it was one of the most painful tackles in my life. It was hard to play on. I have probably broken a rib.”
