Reports are out claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is surprised by Manchester United’s decision to sell Robin van Persie.
Van Persie signed for Fenerbahce this week.
“It was a big surprise,” said Wenger.
The Frenchman lured Van Persie to England in 2004, when Arsenal, then champions, paid Feyenoord £2.75m.
“He is a loss for English football because he’s an exceptional player, one of best I’ve managed, with an exceptional technique.
“I don’t know what happened why he leaves but he’s a loss to the Premier League.”
