It has been revealed that Premier League giants Arsenal have successfully completed that signing of Charlton teenager Carl Jenkinson.
It was reported that the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the versatile 19 year old defender.
Jenkinson, who qualifies for Finland through his mother, can play at either right-back or in central defence, an area which the Gunners were exposed last season.
Charlton chief executive Stephen Kavanagh said: “This is a great move for Carl and it’s difficult to stand in the way of a player when a club the size of Arsenal expresses interest, particularly if, like Carl, you come from an Arsenal-supporting family.”
Jenkinson, who has made nine appearances for the Addicks after making his debut against Brentford last December, added: “I’ll always be in Charlton’s debt for the training they’ve given me since a young age.
“I hope supporters will understand why I can’t turn down such an opportunity, but Charlton will always have a place in my heart.”
