Bad news for Arsenal as manager Arsene Wenger has missed out on top summer target Felipe Melo after weeks of talks over a switch for the Fiorentina defensive midfielder.
But it has been reported that Italian giants Juventus has swooped for Brazilian Melo last night and will officially announce his arrival later today. It is believed that Juventus have splashed out almost £17million plus winger Marco Marchionni on the 26-year-old, who has signed a four-year deal.
Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino yesterday claimed he would speak to Wenger about a deal for Melo and wanted defender Emmanuel Eboue included in any bid but Juventus have moved quickly to get the much sought after Melo.
It is believed that Arsene Wenger has now turned his attentions to St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
