Wenger Was Interested In Daniele Rugani – Agent

Online gambling and sports are connected in so many ways. We have had many players being caught betting illegally on matches and we have had some managers as well being caught for the same thing. Although there is nothing to suggest Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, engages in gambling but he enjoys taking a gamble on young and upcoming players.

Just like online casinos players take risk, Wenger takes a lot of risk. Sometimes calculated risk sometimes outright stupid risks. One of such is not signing a centre back in the just concluded January transfer window. A lot of Wenger’s gambling in the transfer market has paid off in the past and it remains to be seen if this particular one will also pay off.

With Laurent Koscielny’s well documented troubles with his Achilles, it was thought that Wenger would go into the January transfer market with the intention of not only replacing Sanchez but also buying another centre back for the Gunners. Sanchez was well replaced with the signing of Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan but no centre back was signed.

It however appears that that’s not because Arsenal or Wenger didn’t try to sign a centre back but rather because they failed to agree terms for the signing of one. Jonny Evans and Manolas were seriously linked with a move to the club in January but according to the agent of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, the Gunners were also interested in signing his client.

Daniele Rugani has found playing time hard to come by with the Old lady this season as manager Maximillano Allegri has preferred the trio of Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini. This has led to speculations that Daniele Rugani could be leaving. And if you believe his agent, Davide Torchia, Arsenal were keen on him in the just past transfer window.

Torchia told Radio Sportiva: “Daniele’s doing well – I’m happy for him.

“Arsenal? They didn’t launch any assaults for him.

“They expressed a liking for him, but we have respect for Juventus.”

Daniele Rugani was signed by Juventus for €500,000 in 2013. He was immediately sent on loan to Empoli in the Serie B. He has so far this season played 11 games for Juventus majority of which were as subs. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will revive their interest in the 23-year-old in the summer but personally, he is a player I very much like. He will for me be an upgrade on Mustafi for Arsenal
