Arsenal fullback Kieran Gibbs faces two months out after suffering a metatarsal injury in victory over Standard Liege in their Champions League encounter last night.
The England Under-21 full-back had only just returned to fitness from an injury to his right foot suffered while away on international duty.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that Gibbs had suffered a fracture to the first metatarsal on his left foot, and would undergo surgery tomorrow which is set to rule him out for at least two months.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told reporters that the injury sustained by Gibbs is much more serious.
He added that it was a very bad challenge, and it was not the player’s first try.
Wenger also said that Arsenal will now have to X-ray Gibbs and the player has gone to hospital to check because he has a big hole in his leg.
He then said that the player’s injury does not look too good, and that is unfortunate.
