Arsene Wenger Was Destined For Gunners – Ex-Arsenal Chief Dein

Reports are out claiming that former Arsenal chief David Dein says Arsene Wenger was always going to join the club.

Dein, who departed the club in 2007, believes the former Naygoya Grampus chief was born to manage the north Londoners.

“I think it’s been pretty well documented but I knew Arsene for eight years before he joined the club. We met in the late 1980’s just by coincidence,” Dein told Arsenal Fan TV.

“He was passing through London and came to the old Highbury stadium for a game. We had dinner that evening and from there on the relationship was sort of subtle and we’ve been friends ever since.

“So I had a social and friendly relationship with him before he became manager. So I had the great opportunity of seeing him work at Monaco to see how he reacted with the fans, with the players, with directors and with the press and he was a different class guy.

“I always felt it was Arsene for Arsenal. It was destiny, it was in the stars and it was destined to happen.”
