Barcelona 5-2 Atletico Madrid – Video Highlights

Barcelona are continuing in the unstoppable mode with which they ended last season – underlining the point by defeating Atletico de Madrid 5-2 in Camp Nou to maintain their 100pc leadership of La Liga.

Leo Messi scored two goals and laid on another to celebrate his new contract. Coach Pep Guardiola may, however, have been disappointed that Barcelona did not double a 4-1 half-time lead and that they conceded two goals to a disorganised Atletico who barely figured in most of the first half.

Thierry Henry hit the bar for Barcelona in the opening minute and then record signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic put them ahead just 60 seconds later. Messi scored the second goal and – with the delicate assistance of Ibrahimovic – laid on a picture-book fourth for Seydou Keita. Dani Alves scored No3 inbetween.

‘Kun’ Aguero and Diego Forlan pulled back goals for Atletico towards the end of the first and second halves respectively. Messi then wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time after some textbook interpassing.
