Barcelona have announced the capture of Valencia star David Villa in a £34 million deal.
Barca, who are also keen on Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, sealed the deal for the Valencia star this morning.
He will undergo a medical on Friday before signing a four-year contract.
A Barca statement said: “Barcelona and Valencia have closed a deal for Spanish striker David Villa.
“The Spanish international is due in Barcelona on Thursday evening and will have a medical on Friday morning.
“Villa will be officially unveiled as a Barca player. He will then make an appearance on the Nou Camp pitch.
“The stadium doors will be opened to the public.”
Villa, 28, was previously a transfer target for Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea.
He scored 21 league goals for third-place Valencia last season.
He is Spain’s second all-time leading scorer behind Real Madrid legend Raul.
