Live Football Highlights & News

Barclays Premier League Fixtures 12th – 16th December 2009/2010

Sad news for West Ham fans today as Dean Ashton has announced what most already feared, the 26-year-old has retired from football due to injuries to his ankle. I had a few friends who were supporters of Norwich City and when he was there they absolutely loved him, i’m sure West Ham fans are the same.

Champions Man Utd resume their challenge in the Premier League at home against Aston Villa, it will be interesting to see how Utd’s much changed back four cope with Villa’s attacking talents, althought Sir Alex has said that Vidic will play tommorrow.

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has a hamstring injury that could rule him out of Ghana’s African Cup of Nations campaign.

He limped out of the 2-2 Champions League draw with APOEL Nicosia while team-mate and fellow African Salomon Kalou also has a hamstring injury.

Match of the Week
This week the action is at Anfield, Liverpool are enduring one of their worst seasons and it could get worst as the high flying Arsenal team makes it’s way to merseyside.

Andrei Arshavin scored four goals in this fixture last season as the Gunners drew 4-4, becoming the second Arsenal player to achieve the feat at Anfield in the Benitez era – Julio Baptista also scored four in a Carling Cup tie in January 2007.

Liverpool against Arsenal has seen more hat-tricks scored than any other fixture in Premier League history – five.
