Benitez Targets Van Der Vaart And Roman Pavlyuchenko

Van Der Vaart

Interesting transfer news are out and it has been reported that Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is in the sights of Liverpool.

Local newspapers have reported that Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is considering approaching his former club Real Madrid to talk about taking Dutch forward Van der Vaart who has confirmed he will be leaving the Bernabeu in the January transfer window.

It is believed that Benitez hopes to sign Van der Vaart on-loan in January with the view to a permanent deal at the end of the season. However there will definitely be competition as Chelsea and Everton are also keen.

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has also been targeted by Rafael Benitez.

It is said that Benitez has sounded out advisors for Spurs forward Pavlyuchenko, who indicated yesterday that the player will press to leave the London club in January after failing to gain a regular first team place.

It is believed that Benitez sees Pavlyuchenko as the ideal stand in for Torres, and that could do a job for Liverpool to put him into the spotlight before the World Cup gets underway next summer.

Pavlyuchenko has admitted he is desperate to leave Tottenham because spending six months on the bench has cost him his place in the Russian team.
