Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is said to be eyeing Lazio forward Goran Pandev for the January market.
Local newspapers have reported that Macedonia front-runner Pandev was rated at £17m when Arsenal and Tottenham were linked with him in the summer.
It was also reported that Italian champions Inter Milan are favourites to sign the player in January.
It has been reported that Benitez has £12 million to spend in the winter transfer window.
Pandev is the star player of the Republic of Macedonia national football team and is widely considered to be one of the two best players the country has produced alongside former Yugoslavia and Red Star Belgrade great Darko Pancev.
Pandev, so far, has won 44 caps for his country and scored 17 goals. Pandev is the man who is currently leading a charge for Macedonia to reach their first ever FIFA World Cup.
With his 2 goals against Spain, Pandev has become Macedonia’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Gjorgji Hristov.
