Central Coast Mariners youngster Mustafa Amini has agreed to a four-year deal with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.
The 18 year old attacking midfielder’s agent has reportedly told German website Bild that an agreement has been reached after youngster impressed during a trial in March.
Amini’s agent Buddy Farah said : “Mustafa has a pre-agreement with Dortmund over a four-year contract subject to the clubs agreeing a transfer fee,”.
“The sooner it’s resolved the better for all concerned. If the clubs decide for him to be loaned back that could be a good thing for him, especially from a learning point of view.
“The Mariners have been very co-operative in their dealings throughout the whole process.”
The talented playmaker is expected to be loaned back to the Mariners next season in order to gain added first-team experience before heading to Europe full-time.
Amini said : “Coach Jurgen Klopp told me that it was better for me if I play another year in Australia so I can prepare for the 2012 Olympic qualifiers and focus on the FIFA U-20 World Cup,”.
“Additionally, I can hone my skills and get more experience against quality opposition during the Asian Champions League.
“When I trialed at the club, coach Klopp treated me like a full team player and told me that I had convinced him with the way I played.”
Both clubs are currently locked in negotiations on the transfer fee after an initial offer, believed to be AU$135,000, was rejected by last year’s A-League grand finalists.
Amini is currently in Gosford with his Olyroo team-mates as they prepare to meet Yemen on Sunday in the first leg of their Olympic qualification tie.
