Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has a fully-fit squad to choose from after Paulinho, David Luiz and Bernard all proved their fitness. Paulinho missed the Italy game with an ankle strain while Luiz has recovered from a bruised leg. Bernard has shaken off a knock to his foot.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set to return to the Uruguay side, along with a number of first team regulars including Diego Godin. Captain Diego Lugano returns from a ban but coach Oscar Tabarez will have to make do without Andres Scotti after he was dismissed in the Tahiti game.
Luiz Felipe Scolari: “This is a crucial moment for the Brazilian team. But we need to take one more step forward, to defeat Uruguay and reach the final. Brazilians have been with us and everything we have done to build a better country will not be in vain if we can keep this run up. We must find a way of working together, not fighting with each other. Maybe in five or ten years’ time we can have a better country.”
Oscar Tabarez: “It’s a privilege to be taking on the nation that’s won more World Cups than anyone. Let’s see what happens.”
Brazil 4/11, Uruguay 15/2, draw 19/5
