England international midfielder Michael Carrick has revealed that he is willing to continue playing in defence for Manchester United.
Carrick could find himself partnering Nemanja Vidic in central defence against Aston Villa, but the against-odds triumph of the makeshift defence in Wolfsburg has given him confidence in this temporary position.
Carrick told the club’s official website that there is another big game coming and that everyone will have to wait and see if there is any luck with the injured players.
He added that it was the first time a lot of players in the Wolfsburg match as no one have played that system and in those positions. He added that it was very satisfying to come away with a win.
Carrick also said that it is a lot different playing centre-half to midfield but he enjoys playing there.
He went on to say that it was a good test for the players as it is not the physical side that is hard about playing centre-half, it is the mental aspect.
He added that concentration and focus are vital playing in defence and everyone is hoping for the best.
