Bad news for all Chelsea fans as the Daily Mail ahas reported that goalkeeper Petr Cech could miss Chelsea’s Barclays Premier League opener at home to West Bromwich Albion after picking up a calf injury in training.
The Czech Republic international shot stopper is expected to be sidelined for three weeks meaning he will miss the Community Shield at Wembley against Manchester United in just over a fortnight.
It is said that the injury is to his right calf, the same muscle he tore in last February’s Champions League last 16 first-leg tie against Inter Milan in Italy.
Should the Czech Republic international fail to recover in time for the season’s traditional curtain raiser at Wembley, Carlo Ancelotti is likely to turn to Ross Turnbull.
