Celtic have launched a shock move to trump Arsenal for defender Sol Campbell.
It is reported that the Parkhead board are willing to sanction a lucrative wage deal for the 35-year-old former England star.
Arsenal free agent Campbell fits the bill after completing a short-term second stint at the Gunners.
Boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep him with William Gallas expected to quit the Emirates and has offered Campbell a one-year deal.
But Celtic would love him to play an integral part in their bid to wrench back the SPL title from Rangers plus help them get through two tough Champions League qualifiers for the £10million group stages.
