Alvaro Morata netted for the fifth consecutive Champions League match as Juventus beat Sevilla 2-0 in Turin to go top of Group D.
La Vecchia Signora, who have won just one of their opening five Serie A matches this season, put aside their domestic troubles with a convincing victory over the Europa League holders.
Morata became the first Spaniard, and the first Juve player since Alessandro de Piero, to net in five straight Champions League matches when he outjumped two defenders to head home Andrea Barzagli’s cross from the right on 41 minutes.
Juventus substitute Simone Zaza then wrapped up the points three minutes from the end with a cool finish on his Champions League debut, following a fast counter-attack and a clever pass from Paulo Dybala from inside the centre circle.
Juventus next face bottom side Borussia Monchengladbach in back-to-back fixtures, while second-placed Sevilla will meet Manchester City home and away in matchdays three and four.
