A tight game at Stamford Bridge was decided by a John Terry goal in the second half as Chelsea defeated Manchester United.
Manchester United shaded the first half in terms of build-up play but Chelsea had the best chance with a curling drive by Nicolas Anelka. The Red Devils maintained the pressure in the second half but it was Chelsea that took the lead with a header by their captain.
United threw men forward in search of an equaliser but Chelsea defended resolutely and five minutes of stoppage time wasn’t enough for Manchester United to grab a goal.
