Premier League giants Chelsea FC has expressed their interest in Sampdoria’s Italy Under 21 midfielder Andrea Poli.
Italian newspapers have reported that Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is known to be an admirer of his 20-year-old compatriot and will look to sign him from Sampdoria this winter if Chelsea manages to reverse their transfer ban.
It is also believed that the starlet is a lover of the English game and recently described Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard as his idol.
Poli said that in Italy, he is inspired by Daniele De Rossi, Andrea Pirlo and Angelo Palombo.
He added that looking abroad he likes players such as Cesc Fabregas, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, who he thinks is the best midfielder in the world.
He added that he would like to meet Gerrard one day and ask for his autograph.
