Reports are out claiming that Chelsea have quickly moved to deny allegations that captain John Terry and star striker Diego Costa clashed at training.
Radio station talkSPORT reported that Terry and Costa were involved in a tense encounter at the reigning champions’ Cobham training base in the wake of Saturday’s disappointing 3-1 loss to Everton.
Speaking on Sunday, talkSPORT‘s Stan Collymore said: “My understanding is John Terry and Diego Costa had a contretemps in training.
“In the context of every football training ground up and down the country that happens every day whether it’s Manchester United, Chelsea or Scunthorpe. But in the context of two very big personalities in the dressing room not winning games, that could fester and become a problem. So in a harmonious [dressing room] everyone gets on, not best buddies, but everyone respects each other.
“‘But my understanding is that there were handbags between Terry and Costa.”
The Daily Mail is of the belief that Chelsea will contact talkSPORT and Collymore on Tuesday to deny the allegations.
Jose Mourinho’s side have started their title defence in horror fashion, winning just one of their opening five matches, which has them already sitting 11 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
