Reports are out claiming that Diego Costa has turned down suggestions that he could be set for a shock return to Atletico Madrid.
The Brazilian born Spanish international striker has been linked with his former club in recent times despite only joining Chelsea for £32million last summer.
There have been some murmurings around Stamford Bridge, after a poor start to Chelsea’s Premier League title defence, that 26-year-old Costa is unhappy in London but the player himself has queried the speculation by pouring cold water over such claims.
“How am I going to return to Atletico if no one has made me an offer?,” Costa told Al Primer Toque in the wake of Wednesday night’s 4-0 Champions League win over Maccabi Tel Aviv.
“I scored a good goal but we needed to win and that’s what matters.
“We know we can give a little more than we are. Each one of us knows that we can do more. We thought things would be better.”
