Sensational news are out and it has been reported that Chelsea are preparing a £25 million bid for Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Local newspapers report that Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is seeking to freshen up his ageing squad, despite their own double triumph. And he plans to bring in Schweinsteiger, 25, as a replacement for 33-year-old compatriot Michael Ballack.
Chelsea officials have opened talks with Schweinsteiger’s advisers and held out the offer of a £4m-a-year contract.
Schweinsteiger insisted: “Right now I’m focusing solely on the World Cup.
“All the rest doesn’t interest me.”
Nicknamed Schweini – Piggy – he is under contract with Bayern until 2012.
Schweinsteiger, who can play on either wing or in central midfield, is Germany’s vice-captain for the World Cup finals.
