It has been reported that Chico Flores has defended himself after being the subject of social media abuse from West Ham United supporters.
The 26 year old Swansea City defender was involved in Andy Carroll’s red card in the Hammers’ 2-0 win at Upton Park on Saturday when the towering centre-forwards flailing arm struck him in the face.
The contact forced Chico to the ground and subsequently saw Carroll receive a three-match ban, prompting West Ham fans to take to social media to abuse the Spanish defender.
However the Spanish centre back has hit back saying his actions on the pitch were vindicated as there was certainly enough contact to cause damage.
“I’m a bit tired of the strong insults from the West Ham fans. Whoever doesn’t see the aggression in that action is blind,” Flores said.
“They should be more preoccupied with the ugly way their team play football: always making very long passes and never quick short passing.
“They should be worried about that before caring about such evident things.”
