LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham will only equal Peter Shilton’s record of 125 caps if England reach the World Cup final or the third-place play-off.
Becks, now age 34, has pulled out of the England squad to face Brazil in Qatar on Saturday because he is still involved in the MLS Cup with LA Galaxy.
This means that there is a maximum of 10 England games before the end of the World Cup and Beckham will needs to play in them all to draw level with Shilton.
