LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan understands the magnitude of the USA team’s second World Cup clash against Slovenia.
The Americans need a win in Johannesburg if they are to push through to the second phase of the tournament and Donovan is acutely aware that a positive performance against a well-organized Slovenian outfit is required.
“When a team is organised like that you have to take risks if you want to score,” Donovan said.
“Slovenia seem to be a very good team. They have good chemistry, know each other well and will be difficult to beat.
“We were satisfied with the point against England. But it’s not like we were popping champagne. We understand what tomorrow is all about.”
