Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has revealed that the 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar feels like a loss.
The Gunners seemed to be in control in the third Champions League group stage match at the Almaarderhout after skipper Cesc Fabregas had given them the lead just after the half-hour mark, but an injury-time equaliser from David Mendes Da Silva robbed Arsenal of all three points.
Vermaelen told reporters that Arsenal were in control and that there were no big chances for AZ but in the last minute they scored. He added that the draw feels like a defeat.
He also said that when you are 1-0 in front you are not comfortable and that is always risky.
Vermaelen also rued what he believe was a missed penalty to Carlos Vela in the dying stages.
He said that Arsenal should have had a penalty, from his point of view but maybe I was too far away.
