France are through to the final of Euro2016 courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Germany.

Les Bleus defeated the reigning World champions with goals either side of half-time from Antoine Griezmann in the semi-final in Marseille.

The opener came on the stroke of the break when Bastian Schweinsteiger was penalised for handling the ball when he attempted to head clear a corner.

Atletico Madrid star Griezmann stepped up to the task and expertly sent Manuel Neuer the wring way to notch his fish goal of the tournament.

The second goal occurred with just under 20 minutes remaining when Griezmann poked home his sixth of the competition when Neuer got a hand to Paul Pogba’s chipped cross from the left side of the box, following a mistake from Germany youngster Julian Kimmich.

The Germans had conjured enough efforts to beat Hugo Lloris throughout but were unable to do so and were forced out of the Euros at the semi-final stage which is their fourth loss in the final four of a major tournament in their past six attempts.

For Didier Deschamps and France, the final in Paris against Portugal beckons as they look to become the third French team to win a major on home sol after the 1984 Euro conquerers and 1998 World Cup winners.

The final takes place at the Stade de France in the French capital on Sunday night.
