English Premier League side Everton FC have confirmed that they are trying to sign Los Angeles Galaxy striker Landon Donovan on a short-term loan deal.
Now that the MLS season is over, Donovan looks set to follow in the footsteps of Galaxy team-mate David Beckham as he lines up an off-season spell in top-flight European football.
Chief executive Robert Elstone confirmed that Toffees boss David Moyes is keen on bringing the USA’s record goalscorer to Goodison Park.
Donovan’s move to Merseyside would help boost Everton’s injury-ravaged squad, and he would be able to play in the next stage of the Europa League.
The American has had spells with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, but failed to find his best form in the German league and of negotiations are successful, the forward would join Everton in January.
