Reports are out claiming that Everton and Newcastle United are battling for Werder Bremen fullback Jannik Vestergaard today.
Ekstra Bladet says both Premier League clubs lodged bids of £8 million for the Denmark international yesterday.
However, Werder insist they must go higher if Vestergaard is to leave.
Newcastle and Everton are expected to try again for the Dane today.
However, complicating the issue is that Germany’s transfer window is now closed, restricting Werder from finding a replacement.
