It has been revealed that Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has the chance of making an amazing late run for England’s World Cup squad.
Local newspapers have reported that England coach Fabio Capello has also left the door open for Hargreaves as the United midfielder prepares to make his comeback for the reserves against Manchester City on Thursday.
Ferguson left Hargreaves, 29, out of his Champions League squad because he was so pessimistic about his chances of recovering following surgery on both knees.
However it is said that Capello will take Hargreaves to South Africa – even though he has not played since September 2008 – if he can prove his fitness between now and when he names his provisional squad on May 16.
The England manager remembers that Hargreaves was the star performer for the Three Lions in Germany and will give him every chance of making this summer’s finals.
