Sensational news are out and it has been reported that Arsenal have been dealt a blow after Felipe Melo signed a one-year contract extension with Fiorentina.
It was earlier reported that the midfielder aged 25, caught the eye of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as he played a key role in Brazil’s Confederation Cup triumph.
Other European giants such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan were also said to be tracking the anchorman, who joined Fiorentina in a £10million switch from Spanish side Almeria last summer.
But is believed that Melo has snubbed their advances and agreed new terms with the Italian club.
A representative from Fiorentina said to reporters recently that the its sporting director Pantaleo Corvino met in Milan with Felipe Melo’s agent and an agreement was reached to extend the player’s contract until 2013 with a buy-out clause also included.
