Great news for all Atletico fans as striker Diego Forlan has extended his contract with the club by a further two years.
The Uruguay international striker will remain with the club until the summer of 2013, signalling his intent to see out his career in the Spanish capital.
Former Manchester United striker Forlan, who was Europe’s leading goalscorer last season with 32 goals, was delighted to secure his future with Atletico.
Forlan told reporters that he is very happy with the contract renewal and said that he hopes to stay with Atletico for many more years.
He added that it is a dream to be able to extend his contract for two more years with the club and said that he is convinced that the club can win many more titles in the future.
