It has been reported that Franz Beckenbauer has implored Bastian Schweinsteiger to think about a potential move to Manchester United.
The Bayern Munich midfielder is a reported target for the Red Devils but German legend Beckenbauer feels at 30, it is too late for Schweinsteiger to be swapping one top European league for another.
“Adapting to a different European league is difficult at his age,” Beckenbauer told Bild.
“He has played with great force and put a lot of pressure on his body for many years. That saps energy.”
Beckenbauer also believes fellow World Cup winner Schweinsteiger, who has spent his entire career with Bayern, could quite possibly finish his career in the USA just as the 69-year old did with the New York Cosmos in 1983.
“He could end his career in the USA instead,” he added.
“If I was at Schweini’s place, I would stay one or two years more at Bayern. Until then, he can still perform at the highest level.”
