Samuel Eto’o scored on his Inter Milan debut Saturday but couldn’t prevent Lazio from taking the Italian Supercup with a 2-1 win at the Bird’s Nest stadium.
After an uneventful first half, Lazio took the lead through Brazilian midfielder Matuzalem in the 63rd minute. Tommaso Rocchi made it 2-0 just three minutes later.
Eto’o scored in the 78th for the Serie A champions, but Jose Mourinho’s team couldn’t record the tying goal against the Italian Cup winners.
The match was held at the Bird’s Nest one year to the day after it hosted the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. It was the third time in the Supercup’s 22-year history that the match was held outside of Italy.
