Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard looks set to miss up to eight weeks after having a scan on a knee injury he sustained on the weekend.
The 31-year old landed awkwardly when challenging for an aerial ball in the 3-0 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday and left the pitch in tears but the news is much better than the club initially feared according to manager Phil Brown.
Brown told reporters that the wait has been horrendous but is now hopeful that Bullard will be back on the field of play before the transfer window closes.
He added that hopefully Hull City will have Bullard for three to four months before the end of the season.
Brown praised Bullard for the way he has gone about this latest mishap after returning just a few weeks ago after being out for eight months with a more serious knee injury.
Brown added that Bullard is a tremendous character and that the way he is he just wants the ball and to please people.
He then said that Bullard is that kind of character, there are not so many about.
