Louis van Gaal has declared that he must be careful with Manchester United young gun Anthony Martial.
The 19-year-old French international forward scored on his Red Devils debut in the 3-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday but van Gaal is not getting too carried away as he looks to keep a lid on things for the talented teenager.
“I have made a lot of debuts possible. A lot of my debutants have scored. Patrick Kluivert, for example. That’s a good signal, nothing more,” said van Gaal.
“That is why I am saying all of these things, that he is 19-years-old, that he had to adapt, that we have bought him for the future, that he is for my successor.
“These are all signals from me that we have to protect him.”
