It is said that the Premier League giants are monitoring the Colombian’s situation at Real, where the midfielder is demanding parity with the salaries of skipper Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale.
AS says United have approached James’ agent, Jorge Mendes, to register their interest and asked to be kept up-to-speed on the midfielder’s plans.
A January move is unlikely, but Mendes has been told by United they are willing to spend big should James agitate for a move away.
The former AS Monaco star is upset with his current terms, which he feels do not reflect the €80 million fee Real paid to bring him to Madrid in 2014.
