It has been revealed that Manchester United are pushing to secure Michael Carrick to a new contract.
The Mirror reported that the England international has been one of the Old Trafford giants’ most consistent performers in recent times but, as things stand, he’ll be able to walk away for nothing next summer.
Carrick will turn 33 before the 2014-15 season starts however, and that is proving the obstacle in the final round of talks about his future.
The Premier League champions have made it a rule to try to put all ‘senior’ players on one-year deals when they reach that age.
