It has been reported that Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson says Manchester United won yesterday’s game because they were “braver”.
Lawrenson wrote in the Liverpool Echo: “I thought it was a pretty poor game all round, if truth be told. The first half was as drab a “contest” as I can remember in a Liverpool-Manchester United game – or any other fixture, for that matter.
“Neither side looked like they had a clue of how they were going to go about winning the game, and neither side looked capable of doing it.
“I think the difference was that United, after that first half, were just that little bit braver.”
