English Premier League champions Manchester United are a step closer to landing Valencia and Spanish international striker David Villa.
Local British newspapers have reported that Valencia will not be able to resist Manchester United’s attempts to sign David Villa.
It is reported that the La Liga club will have to listen to offers for prized trio Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata in a bid to reduce debts of about £450million.
It is believed that David Villa tops Sir Alex Ferguson’s wish list, with Manchester United hoping a bid £35m will be enough to lure the 27-year-old to Old Trafford.
United, Chelsea and Manchester City were all interested in Villa in the summer, only to be told he would only consider leaving Valencia for Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Spain’s big two have since shelled out on alternative centre forwards and Villa no longer rules out playing outside of his homeland.
