Interesting transfer news are out claiming that Newcastle United are reviving their interest in French midfielder Nampalys Mendy.
The 22 year old defensive midfielder has been watched extensively by Newcastle chief scout Graham Carr over the past 18 months and is aware of their interest.
Newcastle chief Luke Charnley is now actively seeking talks with Nice about Mendy’s situation after learning from intermediaries that the youngster has turned down a new contract offer.
The France U21 international moved to Nice last year from AS Monaco.
It’s understood Toon chiefs see Mendy as a potential replacement for Cheick Tiote.
