Pedro Signs New Barcelona Contract

Pedro Rodriguez has signed a new contract to 2015 with Barcelona.

The Tenerife-born forward made a huge impact for Barca last season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions.

Pedro became the only player to have ever netted in all six major competitions in one season as he scored in the Primera Division, Copa del Rey, Champions League, World Club Cup, and the Spanish and European Super Cups for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 22-year-old took advantage of a day off before the World Cup to sign a new deal with Barca president Joan Laporta, who is looking to safeguard the club’s future before departing later this summer.

Xavi also agreed a new deal on Wednesday and looks set to end his career at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona confirmed that Pedro has been granted a large pay rise and his release clause, currently set at 75million euros, has also gone up to 90m euros.

“Thanks to this news I will be much more relaxed as I travel to South Africa, and even more excited,” said Pedro, who scored his first international goal in Spain’s 6-0 demolition of Poland last night.
