Portsmouth have confirmed that Avram Grant will become their new manager after being granted a work permit.
The Israeli has been at the club since October as director of football, but will take over the Premier League’s bottom side following the sacking of Paul Hart.
It will be Grant’s second management role in England, after his six-month spell at Chelsea two seasons ago, when he led them to the Champions League final.
The work permit that allows the 54-year-old to take charge of Pompey’s match against Manchester United at the weekend is for his director’s role, but he will be allowed to take charge of the side when a permit for his new job is processed.
