It has been revealed that Manchester United did consider moving for Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
The Mirror says a ‘discussion document’ from 2004 has been revealed, which outlined Sir Alex Ferguson’s potential transfer targets.
In need of a centre-back at that time, Kompany was one of four players to be considered as a new signing.
But after being snubbed by United, Kompany made the move to Hamburg in 2006 before switching to Manchester City two years later, where he has captained City through one of their most successful periods in their history.
Top of the list was Paris Saint-Germain’s Gabriel Heinze, who completed his move to Old Trafford that summer.
