It has been reported that Manchester United chiefs have no plans to upgrade Jesse Lingard’s contract.
The Daily Star claims that Lingard, 22, has been at United since he was seven but remains the lowest-paid star in Van Gaal’s first team squad on just £8,000-a-week.
Despite signing a new long-term contract in February, United were expected to reward his recent progress with an improved deal to bring him into line with some of his more established team-mates.
But United bosses have no plans to open contract talks with Lingard and his advisors and insist he will have to wait before cashing in.
A senior club source said: “We are aware of how talented Jesse is, which is why we gave him a new deal earlier this year.
“There are no plans to sit down with him and discuss another new deal. The most important thing is that he continues to make progress.”
