Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has moved swiftly to declare that there was no bust up between him and coach Bert van Marwijk.
The temperamental Arsenal forward reacted angrily when he was substituted 10 minutes from time in Holland’s 2-1 win over Slovakia on Monday.
Van Persie left the pitch in anger and remonstrated with coach Bert van Marwijk.
Then he took no part in the celebrations for Wesley Sneijder’s goal that made it 2-0.
Van Persie, who has just one goal from four games, insisted: “What I said to Van Marwijk was not over the top.
“I just want to be important to the team and to score.
“I wanted to stay on as we would have had more space with Slovakia chasing an equaliser. I felt I could profit from that.
“I have hardly scored and that was gnawing at me, though I played well.”
