It has been reported that Rolando Aarons is ready to sign a new deal with Newcastle United.
The Evening Chronicle says talks were shelved last season, with Liverpool and Arsenal waiting in the wings and ready to pounce.
However, that has now changed and the 19-year-old will snub interest from elsewhere to stay at St James’ Park.
Complications prevented the winger signing last term as his agent demanded the sort of deal normally given to established first-team players.
But Aarons is said to be desperate to make an impact under new manager Steve McClaren on Tyneside.
