Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been warned about his future conduct by the FA after appearing to mouth “12th man” into a television camera.
The England international striker made the comment yesterday as he left the pitch at Stamford Bridge following the 1-0 defeat to top four rivals Chelsea.
An FA spokesman said that Rooney has been warned as to his future conduct following remarks made after the Chelsea match.
However manager Sir Alex Ferguson will not face any action following his criticism of referee Martin Atkinson.
Ferguson condemned the referee’s decision to award the free-kick that led to Chelsea’s winning goal as “absolutely ridiculous” and said such decisions mean people “lose faith in refereeing.
