Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that he is likely to leave Real Madrid in January.
It is believed that the Holland international striker wants to gain more regular first team football ahead of next year’s World Cup and does not believe the Santiago Bernabeu is a good place for that to happen.
The 33-year old has come under an injury cloud in recent times meaning clubs may be wary to jump at the chance to sign him.
However Nistelrooy has revealed that he has plenty to offer when he is fit.
The striker told reporters that he wants to play and that he still has not spoken to coach Manuel Pellegrini.
He added that if he does not get more playing time, that will give him enough reason to leave in January.
Nistelrooy also said that his intention is to play at the World Cup with Holland and it would be impossible if he does not play club football.
The news is likely to alert Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp who showed interest in van Nistelrooy in the summer but a deal did not eventuate.
Reports emanating from Spain also have the Dutchman linked with the big-spending Manchester City.
